Night-time wallaby control operation for Mount Somers area and Hakatere Conservation Park
ECan intend to carry out a ground search and destroy operation for wallabies using dogs and rifles, and night-time UAV/drone with thermal search for wallabies using rifles and dogs, if required. This operation will occur between 16 June and 3 July 2026, depending on the weather. Mount Somers area and Hakatere Conservation Park will remain open. Avoid the area if possible, or keep to tracks when accessing this area. Warning signage will be installed at all normal points of entry.
