Wallaby control operation for Ruataniwha Conservation Park

As part of the Tipu Mātoro National Wallaby Eradication Programme ECAN plan to distribute non-toxic cereal bait pellets by helicopter between 15–19 June 2026, depending on the weather.  Ruataniwha Conservation Park will remain open. The operation is from the Darts Bush area through to the Duncan Stream area/Rhoboro Hills and Rhoboro Downs. You are advised not to walk tracks on the days of the operation. ECan will distribute toxic bait containing 1080 within a month of applying the non-toxic bait. There will also be an additional application late July or August 2026.
